What we look to improve as we continue to make Black Swamp Runner the best it can be:

As many people may know, Black Swamp Runner used to be run by the original creators, and it reached amazing peaks. Within the past few years, Black Swamp Runner has seen many changes to both the course and its name, resulting in some lost faith and lost fun. I, Michael Lindhorst, took over ownership of this course back in May of 2025, and held my first ever race on September 6th, 2025. With this being said, I am extremely new to the art of event planning and race management. Because of this, I wanted to dedicate this page of the website to showing you what types of course-improvements are on the radar. This gives you, the follower, an idea of what I know about, and perhaps what I do not know about. As the saying goes "we live and we learn" and I look forward to learning more about how I can make this course reach the peaks that it has in the past.

Improvements that we look forward to implementing in the 2026 calendar year:

  • One high priority for us is removing the "stalks" located towards the back-half of the course. These are not fun to run on, and we will find a way to remove those from our course!
  • A second high priority is an improved marking system to the entire course. Having held my first race, I can now see how I completely underestimated how well the course should be marked to avoid any confusion during the run.
  • Improving the sense of direction off the course. To explain, I believe we can do better to show people where things are located, such as the concession stand and rinse stations. 
  • Bringing more value to our events. We really hope to gain a few items to raffle off during each race, items that people can win for free. We will also begin raffling off two free Black Swamp Runner passes that anyone can win. These will grant one free future race for two people!
  • Perhaps the addition of a brand new obstacle to our course? We will let you know when that is prepared and ready!
